Les Miserables


The 1996 Fall Play at Sunset High School was Les Miserables, Victor Hugo's classic tale of social injustice in 19th century France. Stars of the show included:

  • Neil Hefty as Inspector Javert
  • J. J. Shurtleff as Mme. Thenardier
  • Philip Scott as Marius
  • Travis Massar as Jean Valjean
  • Didi Bethurum as Fantine
  • Chris Raymond as Thenardier
  • Carolyn Parsons as Cosette

    his cast of characters.

    Jean Valjean, recently paroled from prison where he served 19 years for stealing a loaf of bread,
    is caught with a stolen silver candlestick.

    Fantine, poor and in need of work, leaves
    her baby daughter, Cosette,
    with the unscrupulous Thernardiers.

    Jean Valjean.

    Marius argues with his aunt over
    his love for Cosette.

    Jean Valjean, having raised Cosette as his daughter following the death of Fantine,
    dies on her wedding day.
