Rose has a plan for a song that will
make Albert rich, and make her
"Mrs. Phi Beta Kappa Peterson,
the English teacher's wife."
The teenagers of Sweet Apple, Ohio,
having heard the news that Kim MacAfee
has been pinned by Hugo Peabody,
sing "Going Steady."
Ursula Merkle can't believe that Kim
is planning to quit the
Conrad Birdie Fan Club.
Kim, after deciding to "settle down"
at the age of 15, sings
"How Lovely to Be a Woman."
Albert tries to cheer up one of
Conrad's fans by telling her to
"Put on a Happy Face."
Conrad meets his fans and
members of the press.
