Spotlight on Museum Interpreters |
|
Did you ever want to be a comic book hero when you grew up? Well, actor interpreter Matt Anderson gets to do that and more as part of his work at The Children's Museum. Since March of 2008, Matt has been engaging children and families in exhibits all over the museum. On any given day, he may go from performing as a superhero to portraying a Federal Marshal in The Power of Children to explaining the ins and outs of the Water Clock. "I love the variety of my work," says Matt, "and I especially love to give our visitors the opportunity to experience an 'a-ha' moment." A native of Portland, Ore., Matt has always loved kids and working with people. And with a degree in acting, directing and creative writing, he is able to make learning fun and help relate exhibit topics to visitors. "This is an amazing institution and there is always so much to do," explains Matt. "I love being able to bring the exhibits to life for our guests!" Look for Matt in Comics Alive in Comic Book Heroes, as a Federal Marshal in The Power of Children or portraying Waterhouse Hawkins in Dinosphere. * * * * * Left: Matt dressed up as Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins, a 19th century British sculptor who was the first person to draw and sculpt dinosaurs. Hawkins based his work on information about their size and shape obtained from paleontologist Sir Richard Owen. |
