Elsa's Surprise 70th Birthday Party
One of the awesome responsibilities of being by-far-the-youngest sibling in a
family of five is that I have to occasionally show up at family events so that
my much-older siblings can better remember just how much older than me they
really are. So, as February 2007 came into view and our senior sibling's 70th
birthday approached, I made an expedition to the land of cotton to let Elsa know
that she was not forgotten. Many of the Sustacheks -- Min, Pudge, Uncle Jim Bob,
Joann, Jimmy, Anthony, and Anna -- came down for the party as well. Gary
and Sue Clope also joined in the festivities.
I flew to Atlanta on Feb. 1 and spent the first two nights in hiding at Uncle
Jim Bob's house along with other members of the Wisconsin Branch of the
Sustachek Clan.

Bill and the Zierten kids did a great job of planning the party. Although
Elsa's birthday is on February 8th, the party was held on February 3rd, which
may have helped with the surprise. There was an amazing magician, tasty food,
valuable gifts, and lots of guests. Happy Harold's Embarrassing Old Photo
Company contributed a DVD chock full of pictures of Elsa, which was quite
entertaining. A few kids even did a good job of running around and keeping the
adults from falling asleep. A wonderful time was had by all!

Since a trip to Atlanta deserves more than one event, the day after the
surprise party (2/4) we all convened at Elsa and Bill's place to watch the Super Bowl.
On Monday (2/5) some of us also went to visit the Georgia Aquarium. I
enjoyed a solo trip to Stone Mountain on Tuesday (2/6) and flew back
to Oregon on Wednesday (2/7).
