Here and There, Now and Then
It's interesting to be back in Madison. We left here in the summer of
1977 when Eric was 1 and Matthew was not yet in the planning stages. In
the summer of 1982, after living in Racine and teaching chemistry at UW-Parkside
for 5 years, we moved to Portland. The Rose City was our home for 25 years
before we finally moved back. I was a bit apprehensive but, fortunately,
the 2000-mile move and the search for a new house went much better than I
imagined (feared?). What a tremendous relief!
Now that most of the boxes are unpacked and we're more-or-less settled,
however, I find that I'm struggling with a bad case of "Here and There
Syndrome." This is often accompanied by a bout of "Now and Then-itis."
I hope that friends and relatives will understand because it's very difficult
not to compare Madison to Portland or Wisconsin to Oregon. Worse yet, it's
almost impossible to avoid pointing out how the '60s and '70s compare to the
2000's.

Here and There,

Now and Then.
So, please be forewarned. Despite my best efforts, future blog entries
may suffer from "Here and There Syndrome" and/or "Now and Then-itis." If
so, please forgive me and, if you can't handle it, check out
youtube.com or some other
much more with-it web site.
