All the Leaves are Not Brown
 The
Mamas and Papas went for a walk on a winter's day and found that "all the leaves
are brown and the sky is gray." Had they gone for a walk in Madison this
fall they would have written an entirely different song. The weather has
been warm and very sunny and the trees around town have really outdone
themselves when it comes to autumn colors.
Compared to the record wet August, October has been fantastic. There
where many days where it seemed like summer just wanted to keep on keeping on.
Even on chilly days the sun remained out to provide warmth and brightened our
spirits.
Shortly after we moved into our house I was talking with one of our neighbors
and mentioned that I liked the gingko tree across the street. He said that
in the fall it behaves very strangely in that it will lose all of its leaves in
a single day. I had forgotten about that but when I woke up one morning
last week (November 7) I looked out our front window and noticed that it was
raining gingko leaves! It was perfectly still out so it wasn't because
they were being blown off of the tree. They had apparently all agreed to
drop this year on November 7.
