When You Wish Upon a Favre (Page 2/2)

We wandered around the Atrium for a while and enjoyed listening to the band, watching the crowd, and looking at some of the displays.  One of the items on display was the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year Award that was presented to Brett Favre in New York earlier in the week.

About a half hour before kickoff we left the warm confines of the Atrium and headed out to the field.  The temperature was 18 degrees but the sun was out and it wasn't windy.  The stands were filling rapidly and pre-game entertainment was taking place on the field.  Despite the temperature many fans were holding ice cold glasses of Miller Genuine Draft in their hands.  That was the last thing I wanted to drink on a cold December afternoon!

Left: Anticipation builds as we are about to enter the stadium.
Center:  Jets roared over the field at the end of the National Anthem.
Right: Blue skies and warmly dressed fans.

After the National Anthem was sung a pair of jet fighter planes flew low over the stadium; the roar from their engines vibrated the seats.  Then the Packers kicked off to the Oakland Raiders to start the game.  I won't waste your time with a detailed summary of the game.  You can get all of the stats on the Green Bay Packer Web Site.  There's probably no need to tell you that THE PACKERS WON, but in case you just arrived from Mars, the score was 38-7.

Left: We had a great view of the field from between the 25 and 30 yard line.
Right: Here's a happy couple of Packer fans enjoying the game.

For our only Packer game is was pretty good.  In addition to the Packers winning and our not freezing to death, there was quite a mix of interesting plays.  We got to see the Packers score touchdowns on a fumble recovery, a punt return, a running play, and two passing plays including one for 80 yards!  (We saw them score on an interception, too, but the crazy zebras took that away.)  We also saw them make a field goal and uncharacteristically miss two field goals.  The Raiders were generally hapless despite the fact that they beat the Broncos and the Chiefs in their last two games.

To the very kind people who so generously made this event possible, we extend our most heartfelt Green and Gold THANKS.  We had a great time!
