It's that time of the year again when people tend to look back. The
stories that you read in the newspaper or hear on the news are often about the
biggest events of the year. Since 2009 is the end of the first decade of
the twenty-first century there are also stories about the biggest events of the
decade.
As people age they often spend more time looking in the rear-view mirror and
less time looking out the windshield. The view is often much better in
that direction. So, it shouldn't be a surprise that I would take this time
to wax poetic about the subject of remembering.
Another year comes to an end
As everyone soon does,
And in the future you'll look back
Remembering how it was.
In all the stories that you tell
And pictures that you see
I hope that there will be a time
When you remember me.
For in the future I know that
I'll turn and look back, too,
And when that time comes I'm sure that
I will remember you.
