Take a Look at a Book

When I first started in photography I would show people prints of some of my favorite images. Later I began to accumulate thousands of Kodachrome slides and would give people slide shows of some of my favorite images. (Some friends have told me that they were actually able to stay awake long enough to see the first five or six slides!) Now I have thousands of digital photos and they are nothing more than little magnetic particles holding on to my hard drive for dear life. To alleviate some of my paranoia I try to keep one or two backup copies of my digital images at all times.

Although I can prepare slide shows of my digital images, that requires people to huddle around my lap top computer in an attempt to see them. Some day I'll have my huge flat screen digital TV and will be able to show them in style. In the mean time it would be nice to have a easy low-tech way to show some of my photos. So, over the past year or two I've been experimenting with making photo books. I've had good luck making some books with iPhoto on my MacBook Pro computer. Calendars for Christmas gifts have also been fun to make with iPhoto.

Recently I decided to try making a book using the free BookSmart software from Blurb.com. I just finished my first one last night. Although it will take about a week or so before I get the book in the mail, you can already preview it online by using the handy widget below. If you click on the image below you can preview all 40 pages. You could even buy your own copy! However, why don't you just come over and visit some time and I can show you the book for free.

This was kind of fun! I hope you enjoy it.
