Back to the Northwest (Page 3/4)
[May
14, 2009] It was hard to leave Timberline Lodge. We stayed and wrote
postcards until checkout time. The weather was windy and rainy so that
made it a bit easier. After getting a ride back down to Government Camp
and getting our car, we headed off to Seattle to visit our friend Paul Olsen.
The closer we got to the city the more crowded the freeway became. We were
held up a long time due to an accident but finally made it to Seattle.
Then we got horribly lost and had to call Paul to get help finding his house.
 [May
15, 2009] The weather was beautiful today so we spent the entire day being
tourists. First, the
South
Seattle Community College Arboretum; second, the
Pike Place Market,
where we had lunch; third, the
Olympic
Sculpture Park; and finally, the
Washington
Park Arboretum.

[May
16, 2009] Another beautiful day! We drove out of Seattle to wander
through a couple of small towns, stop at a railroad museum, and visit
Snoqualmie Falls.
The falls was roaring with fresh spring snow melt. You could feel the
observation platform vibrate from the power of the falling water.

We ended the day with dinner at the Last Frontier Saloon in Fall City. The
saloon was full of bikers when we arrived, which made for some interesting
people watching. The culture of the place was well-represented by a large
mural in the back of three famous Americans. Very patriotic!
